Wesley Financial Group’s
Timeshare Exit
Checklist
Identify / Map Out Your Complaints
- How were you lied to? Be specific in what details were provided that were not accurate.
- Who lied to you? Providing names and contact information for those you interacted with during and after your timeshare purchase/upgrade process.
- When were you lied to? Providing specific dates and times for any timeshare interaction where misinformation was given.
- What effect has that had on you and your family? Be prepared to verbalize the true impact the timeshare has had on your family. You could possibly be asked to provide supporting documentation, so be prepared!
- Collect any and all available paperwork from the timeshare purchase. Contracts, business cards, notes from presentations, marketing materials, HOA bylaws, etc…
- Organize a detailed timeline of all interactions with the timeshare, from the first presentation through the purchase process and up to the current standing.
Draft a Letter of Complaint and Send It to the Timeshare
- The complaint should include any example of feeling pressured to complete the sale. Each situation is different, so the more you can convey your emotional impact into purchasing the timeshare, the greater your odds of getting the attention of the timeshare.
- Addressing a letter to the correct internal TS department. Each timeshare has departments and staff that handle specific owner types and issues. To ensure your complaint is properly reviewed, contacting the correct team within the timeshare organization is imperative. Not addressing your complaint to the correct department could result in a delayed review of your complaint or potentially no review at all.
- Send a physical letter or email to the correct address. Along with addressing the correct teams within the timeshare, any physical mail being sent to the timeshare must be mailed to the correct location. Timeshares typically have multiple locations throughout the country, and not knowing which location to send your complaint could again result in delayed responses/reviews.
- Each timeshare could have a specific preference for how these complaints are best submitted. Knowing how your timeshare prefers to receive requests from owners will help throughout the dispute process.
Identify the Proper Contact Within the Timeshare Company for Optimal Results
The dispute process will include making phone calls to the timeshare to discuss your situation and request. Knowing how different timeshare team members within the correct department respond is valuable knowledge. This can help direct who we contact as we progress through the dispute process, ensuring we are getting in touch with those found to be the most helpful.
Find the Right Agency for Support
Identify the proper outside entities that can assist you in documenting and pushing the timeshare company to do the right thing. There are many governmental and public agencies dedicated to assisting consumers. Depending on the specifics of your purchase or circumstances, specific agencies may help support your request or at least get the attention of the timeshare. They are valuable resources that can truly help move the dispute process forward.
Keep Detailed Notes Throughout the Process
Be prepared to give this dispute process your full attention over the course of the dispute process. To succeed most, being readily available to receive timeshare communications, responding to timeshare outreach promptly, and meeting response deadlines set by the timeshare are recommended. We also strongly encourage keeping detailed notes of any and all interactions with the timeshare and its employees. Having records to refer back to with employee name, contact information, and the basics of the conversation can be strategically used through-out the dispute process.
Be Prepared to Change Course in order to Achieve Results
It is important to know that there is no “one size fits all” process for your timeshare dispute. Each ownership presents new details. Be prepared to adjust your approach as you move forward; the responses from the timeshare and outside entities can change your course of action.

I am very impressed with the professionalism that was exhibited by each associate during my timeshare exit process. All were accommodating, helpful, & eased the ongoing frustrations of being taken advantage of by timeshare ownership.
